Domestic Bliss (half water)
These images are part of a larger, evolving series of photographs that feature my children. I have always been fascinated by a perceived confluence of childhood innocence and seemingly “adult” intelligence observed in early photographs. Especially when they were younger, the images hinted at some unconscious wisdom guiding them through the commotion of growing up. As it should be, newer work revealed a shift. I now see beings who are becoming aware of their power and insight as they begin to independently navigate their interactions with the world. With this independence, there is often less opportunity for collaborating and making more photographs. The required social distancing and isolation during the pandemic, however, offered an unexplored circumstance that gave rise to more recent portraits.
